I have got to sort something out for toilet facilities as hubby is getting put off camping because of the amount of times he needs to go, not just at night but during the evening (due to the amount of lager he is consuming i have no doubt) and he is fed up trudging across the campsite to the loo. Dont really know what the answer is though as i dont have a side porch to put a loo or bucket in. Will have to sort something though because i dont want to give up camping!
An empty plastic bottle will take up a lot less room than a bucket! Fabric conditioner bottles are especially good as they have a wide neck. I use one in conjunction with my shewee, which is probably tmi.
No chap ever need leave the tent, just have a dedicated pot for the job, with a screw on lid, it needs to be a gallon so you cant fill it up in the night.
I have the same problem. I do like my wine but then I can drink the same at home and I'm not up in middle of night. I thought it could be something to do with having a chill in the air (even if you are feeling snug) but I am thinking it maybe could be that you don't go as often in the course of the evening? If drinking at home, as soon as I feel the need, I obviously go, but when camping you do put it off as long as possible so not lots of trips to the loo. Anyway, I put this to the test the last weekend I camped and tried to make a point of going often throughout the evening, hey ho, I didn't get up during the night that night. Will test this method out again on my next trip incase it was just a fluke.
I drink far more tea and coffee when camping, could be that! (no difference in alcohol consumption and I'm usually warm and cosy). I think it's also that bit harder to struggle out of my sleeping bag so as soon as I wake, I start to hope it's not 'cos I need the loo, which gets me thinking about it, which makes me want to go!
Oh blimey don't say this! I very rarely get up once I'm asleep, DD is the same but if we'll be up all night when we go camping I may need to invest in some sort of loo thing because I'm NOT trecking accross a field 10 times a night! She's got a toddler Porta-potty I can take so she'll be fine, but me? Oh 'eck. Anyone tried a Shewee? Thinking that could be the option for me though I do wear a lot or trousers that won't open down far enough to get away without having to moon anyone behind me!
