With regards the LED output from the Wilkinsons 48 LED models, I have noticed they are not 'Intensity Matched'.
I adapted 3 of them to work off 12 volts from my car battery.
I tested them with a variable voltage source, and noticed some LED's are noticeably less bright at lower voltage.
I'm tempted to purchase more of them, and adapt them with blocks of matched LED's.
When I opened them up I found poor quality soldering, as well as poor manufacture. Thankfully I have the knowledge and skills to correct them.
Paul, you're tempting providence visiting such places as Go Outdoors. 
I hope the carpets didn't get blown away last weekend, glad you had good outcome after losing your Skandia.
I have a remote control device I'm considering adapting for light control, it does have a number of codes to avoid interfering with other users. LOL
We're not finished tenting this year, my wife is happy to continue, and later this month we're looking to get away (weather permitting) for a long weekend.
The LED lights will come in handy again due to earlier sunsets.
