My 904 lasted forever, or it seemed to anyways!
We used it on loads of trips, from one night to 7 nights at a time.
Buuuut before we took it away camping we used it in the house for 6 weeks as we didn't have a cooker and it still did all the camping trips after that!!

I'm pleased to hear so many people giving a thumbs up to the campingaz cylinders. I was recently given one but everyone seemed to be saying the calor cylinders are better so I thought I'd done the wrong thing.

Yes, you may pay less per refill for the calor cylinders (and get more gas) but I feel that weight & size wise the campingaz wins. So much easier to transport in the car with all the other kit.

If you are going onto the continent, Calor gas is virtually impossible to find..everywhere seems to have Campingaz

I lug 2 907's around. One for the stove and 1 for the BBQ. Also will never have the situation when the 2 will run out at the same time, (on a sunday evening when the camp shop is closed and you can't get a replacement when trying to cook dinner).

As it has been said before, don't buy your first bottle from a dealer. ask at you local recycling centre, they usualy have a few. even if the top is missing you can buy a new one for a couple of quid. but you will need to have a top for getting the bottle exchanged or refiled.

I have on a few ocations been known to spot and buy bottles at boot sales etc, and resell them for a couple more quid for beer money.

As for transporting them, we use a trailer now and I put them in there at the end closest to the car (less likly to take a impact in a crash). When we just had the car, as low as possible in the bootie on the floor of the boot, well wedged in.

When you wake up in the morning to the sounds and sights of the campsite, ask yourself one question.....who's nicked my tent?????

i have 2 907s, got them from my dad as he still had them when we went camping in france years ago. One was empty, so got a new refil, the other i think was about half full and that did us for a week in northumberland last year, its still got plenty of gas in it so maybe there was more than i relaised, i didnt weigh it so cant be sure.Going away for longer this year but i reckon the half full culynder will last us ages, we use it for the cooker only, but we didnt take an electric kettle last year so used it a fair bit for making brews :)

Don't buy new Campingaz cylinders from the shops. When you refill them you will swap your empty one for a full one which was originally someone else's. You may not even get a new one first time.
Go on Ebay etc. and get a used one, check it is a presentable condition when you buy it (not too rusty) and connect it to a stove/lamp and check it works if it has gas in it. Try to ensure you get one with a screw top sealing handle, the refill shop may get shirty if you don't have one and take the one off the refill cylinder, though you can buy one on Ebay etc.
You will pay about half the shop price for cylinder perhaps some gas and a sealing handle.

Whatever size cylinder you buy it will eventually run out, and need a refill. You can run a lamp on a 901 cylinder and use that cylinder as your backup hoping they won't both run out at the same time, or you can get a small disposable gas can stove and have it ready when the main stove's gas level is getting dodgy and hope that day is not the day of the feast when you invite everyone over.

You should have seen the condition of the one I took for a refill that I got off my dad. It looked like it had gone down with the titanic lol. I was given a shinny new one

Hi just a quick one. I have a campingaz 907 when full weighs 6.42kg when empty 3.7kg. Mine weighs 5.44 kg so take away 3.7 kg equals 1.74kg of gas is that right. Also ive got a 2 burner campingaz stove which we'll be using for breakfast for 6 mornings would this be enough

Yep, no problem I have got over 10 weeks camping out of my 907, although we do carry two cylinders so that we never run out.

We only ever go camping in France, that's why we stick with the 907's but this year I will be on the look out for a couple of Le Cube cylinders, at 5kg and a third of the price for a refill, and easy clip on regulator it's a no brainer.

For UK use, try and get hold of a BP GasLite 5kg cylinder, which uses a simple clip on regulator and refills are a fraction of what it costs for a CampinGaz refill.

You can often find cylinders at your local tip, they often have a cage for them, blag one of those and it will save you the £28 cylinder deposit

BP no longer own the brand, think it's Mac Gas or somthing now.
