we found the inflatable pillows a bit cold and they slid arround on the SIM so we use cushions off the settee. not as bulky as pillows but just as comfy.
I had a small inflatable pillow with a cover on for years, but since it got a leak I just take cushions. You can get a small cushion from Dunelm and wrap it in an ordinary pillowcase, I like two pillows at home, so in addition I use a folded blanket, or a fleece, or some clothes in a small rucksack. I've even used a spare sleeping bag, still rolled up in it's bag. And I've also used a lmedium sized cuddly toy. Be inventive.
I remember at Cub Camps - small boys bringing pillows almost as big as they were.
Pillows from hole are always a luxury we take. You can squash them really small with a bit of brute force. Wait 'til the car is packed and them look for a hole and get squashing.
Have used inflatable pillows. Not exactly lovely but not bad. Better than nothing. Put them under something nice - how about one of those slightly padded pillow covers?
Or if you're near an IKEA they sell those little cushions for under a pound. they have a cotton cover and would make an inflatable pillow (or a rolled up jumper) more plumptious. They're only wee so you'd definitly squash them in somewhere.
I had some inflateable pillows, which when fully inflated wer about as comfy as a brick. Spent ages letting a bit of air at a time out, to get mine comfy - tehn next morning, Pip who was about 9 said, mummy I've blown your pillow back up for you as it was all squashy. What could I say. The camper means that pillows live in it. Going away in a tent tomorrow and as my car is too small for even the basic stuff - Micra - two kids and a medium sized dog take up most of the space - I have decdied to tow, so three pillows isn't going to make any difference.
Just take comfy pillows and squash them in car, they dont take up much room, could even sit on them in car. Got to sleep comfortable and defo not on blown up ones.
I don't like inflatable pillows...too hard. I do like the half sized camping pillows though, the type that squash into a stuff sac not much bigger than a can of beer. If we're taking a tent rather than the TT we always use camping pillows to save packinbg space. If we're going for a long haul of five or six weeks in the TT though I buy new cheap synthetic pillows from M&S, which are vacumn packed in tight cylinders, use these and leave them at the end of the trip if I'm short of packing space. My two kids do quite like having a pillow each in the back of the car though, to sleep against. No way would I ever put anything like this under a car or booster seat or let them sit on them in a seat belt of course.
We each have 2 pillows on the bed at home so we take the underneath ones, the kids have theirs at the side of them in the car and doze off on them anyway, the others go where we can fit them around seats and footwells.
