I second the Igloo Maxcold...fantastic piece of kit if you have room in your vehicle as it is quite big.

just keep topping up with ice from the supermarket each night it's cheaper than freezing your packs on the camp site plus the defrosted ice water keeps your box cool after the ice has gone.

Hi,

I do a similar thing to the "water bucket" but I also have some canvas bags that I put one inside t'other and soak with water.

I then stand the bags on a bucket of water and it all stays cool due to the evaporation of the water. Just give it a dunk in passing so it's wet at the top.

The hotter it gets the more evaporation occurs and the cooler the contents. As used by the army in desert conditions.

I also use an 70cl Igloo Maxicold 5 Day cooler along with Techni-Ice cooling gel sheets these are expensive but the way they work is fantastic. You get longer out of them the longer you freeze them beforehand which I normally do for 2-3 weeks this gives me 5-6 days normally at festivals in a tent.

Brill ideas everyone, hopefully this time I wont have room temp food that were supposed to stay chilled!  Saying that last time we had a scorcher weekend as well so didnt help!!

we've never had to pay to freeze our cool blocks at any of the campsites we've visited, which is just as well as we have millions of them...!!...a free freezing service is one of the things on our camping checklist when choosing sites...
