we don't use ours anymore, but I have kept them as they are so fab! We tend to use gas or electric induction ring instead. I did look at the gas converter but it seemed stupidly expensive, and given we use 2 rings I would need 2 converters and the price put me off.

I have seen some flare ups with them, when the meths has been spilt when pouring and it was very windy - at one point the flames were higher than the people. I have no idea how the flames got so high it was freaky!

I love our Trangia and take it on picnics and to the allotment to make cups of tea. When I go camping though I take our CampingGaz Party Grill, either as sole cooker or as a third ring/emergency back up. It uses the same cannisters as the gas lamp so we don't have to take different fuel for it. Doubles up as a hotplate/BBQ too.

Brilliant kit, been using one for 20 years, meths burner works better in the wind (Dartmoor and Brecons especially!)
Have had some problems with sooting on the pots but I now add a little water to the meths and it seems to have stopped it. Fantstic for doing cheese fondues.
Gas conversion is expensive but great for rapid kettle boiling and convenience, I use plumbers gas from not Machine Mart, the other big place. Gas not effective at very low temperatures (ie minus 5C!) so meths or the Coleman petrol stove gets used.

If you use butane/propane mix with your Trangia adapter, you can use inverted gas canister operation once its warmed up. The liquid fuel is vapourised in the pre heat tube. It works in very cold temperatures. The Go systems adapter is a lot cheaper than the Trangia and is also supposed to work with liquid fuel feed.

Brilliant bit of kit. Very compact.

Still have mine from cycle touring days ... use it now on the odd overnight canoeing trip ... still a fantastic piece of kit!

I've got me a Swedish army trangia, which has the Austrian three pot, as opposed to the Swedish two pots. I must ask why people mind the soot so much, bearing in mind that it's designed to hang over open fires? You can even pop it in the embers of a fire and bake yourself a nice spud and even bread, I've been informed. I don't own the civilian version, so I don't feel qualified to comment, however, the army type is used by professional soldiers, in extreme minus temperatures, I bought mine from Military Mart for the grand total of about £7.50. It was used, has dints galore and pieces missing off it, but I can say whereas it's not the lightest on the market, it's certainly the best stove I've ever had, or want.

We use a Trangia as our main stove (using meths). We have a cheap single gas burner too but I much prefer the trangia and wish we had two. My husband was rather sceptical about it but was definitely converted after our trip.

Bought myself the non-stick 25 3 years ago. Gave my 30 year old trangia to my sister and it is still going strong! Cannot praise them highly enough.

Just been to Go Outdoors...the only thing I bought was a Trangia cover bag, which I think it deserved for excellent service... £5 ;)

Got a Trangia about three years ago from TKMax. Has gas connection and cost me £13 !!!!! I don't think they realised what it was! Use it all the time and love it - especially at that price! And it is the genuine article!
