The mini oven your just purchased is 1300watt, which uses 5.65 amps so don`t plug anything else if your on camp sites that only have 6 amp electric hook up or you`ll trip your electrics.

Thank you for that, Griff. I have yet to find a site with only 6 amps although I gather some still exist. I'll bear that in mind. 

Well, picked it up today and it's huge! It says it is 19 litres on the box. Could cook a 20lb turkey in it...almost

Tried it out with a bit of toast and it seemed to work ok. It does get very hot though, especially the back. It tells you not to touch the outside so I naturally had to . I will have to make sure it doesn't get anywhere near the side of the tent.

Another question has arisen. Although there is a book with brief instructions it doesn't say what you would need the bottom heater element for specifically. I gather for toasting and grilling you use the top element and for baking you use both, but under what circumstances would you need to use the bottom element on it's own?

With ours we find sometimes the food will burn quite easily (pies etc, or something topped with cheese) on the top before it has finished cooking the whole thing through and that's when we turn to the bottom element only. Usually we use top and bottom to start with to get the oven up to temperature and then if it looks as if the top of the food is starting to overcoook we switch the top one off.

Thanks very much for that info Evenstephen, makes good sense and I will follow that advice.

This evening just as a tester (and because I was peckish) I chucked a couple of sausage rolls and some frozen oven chips all in the same tray and stuck it on 200c. After 25 minutes all was done perfectly. Another 5 minutes and the pastry may have burned but it was done perfectly. I am now chuffed to bits with it...hopefully it will save me a fortune on restaurant or chippie meals 

....just realised though that I will now need to buy some oven gloves and a heat proof pad to put a hot pan on
