Sorry to butt in - but we have a Quechua tarp and can someone tell us what the guy rope is for in the middle of the top seam, please? Seems to pull the top down when used!

No eyelets as it's a Saxon reenactment tent but it has canvas hoops. I have some clingons for the top. I'm away at BM this weekend but with the Palamos so no chance to try it out yet. Will try and rig it up next weekend in the garden lol

I've got the Quechua tarp and never use the top guy rope, I just tie it up out of the way. I guess you would use it if you had the tarp in a sort of upside down 'L' shape.

Mine came today, after they tried to deliver on Monday when I was at work, arranged for re-delivery today so I waited in all day....5.30pm it arrived, so not had chance to try it out, but it is a good thick quality canvas, like you say, with canvas loops, good strong ones, they are.  I may add some eyelets to make it work with the poles I have.

Hi missElaineous.  Am wanting a Touareg but the only thing that puts me off is if the weather is really bad and you have to have windows closed because they are mesh with canvass covers does it not get a bit claustrophobic and boring not being able to see out at all ?  Do you rig up a tarp over one of doors for a porch, at least the door will be able to be left open then,  notice on another thread you would like a 5m bell tent,  is the Touareg not the perfect tent then ?   PamJ

Hi Pam, the Touareg is the perfect tent for 2, may be 3, but when I take the grandkids, I would like a bedroom big enough for all of us, still leaving a reasonable size living area.  This weekend I am taking them camping in the Touareg, we will manage, they will sleep in the inner tent, Katy and I will sleep on the inflatable sofa at the other side, which can be folded up in the day, and our bedding can get chucked in the inner tent out of the way.

I missed the windows to start with, but have got used to it now, the light is so lovely in there so it doesn't matter that you can't see out.  I have not used a tarp. on it yet, but have left a door open in heavy rain and the little stub canopy keeps the rain out.  The advantage of two doors is that you can choose to open the one on the sheltered side.  I would recommend the Touareg to anyone.  I don't really need a 5m Bell Tent, I have just caught the contagious disease of tent collecting syndrome.

Thanks for your reply,  we are mainly two, myself and a 12 year old,  but usually end up with a couple of grandchildren gatecrashers as well, but I'm sure we could fit in, they're only 3 and 7 at the moment.  We all got in my Boston Easycamp 400 sleeping compartment for a weekend and thats tiny but they sleep on sheepskin rugs or something like that, not in straight lines.!   we use sleeping mats as well , not airbeds which helps.  Still really wanting a Touareg !  PamJ

Go for it then, so easy to erect.  Similar camping party to mine then..... Katy is 11 and my granddaughters are 5 and 7.

Locally, got a 30' x 20' tarp, heavy duty re-inforced with eyelets for under £10; no poles but can pick those up cheap.  OK, wanted this for the boat, but it's withstood 80 miles an hour winds and not a rip. It doesn't look as pretty as some of your photos though.

What size did you get Miss E? Am looking at getting the 10x6 for my 5m bell tent. I don't want it to stick out too much so am thinking the 10x10 might be too big?
