does it taint the water taste at all ???

I doubt that it does, it does not smell and silicone is intert used in medical devices and cooking and I have a baking tin made of the stuff. Afterall plastic kettles are common and they dont seem to have an issue. I doubt it has any taint

Our old trangia kettle has a folding handle, fits inside the nested saucepan set and holds the matches and saucepan handle inside it during transit, so no space wasted!

We have a folding colander using the same principle which is brilliant but scolding water and the temptation for a child to compress the kettle during use would count against the folding kettle for us.

Its quite hard to compress. You need to pick it up with both hands and push/squeeze quite hard. I dont think you could/would do that during use when on a hot plate. It would be difficult to compress by pushing on the top while on a stove.

I like the idea that it does not conduct heat away from the silicone body. That will save time and fuel if exposed to a cooling wind. Just a shame about the price.

Just out of curiousity, how long do these sort of things last....?

...we've looked at the collapsible buckets before now..but they're not cheap..especially if they end up being something that you'll  need to replace every couple of seasons...

The kettle seems a really good idea, especially for tenters. We use electic in the caravan though, so we wouldn't use it. Rather expensive just to use as a back-up.

The biggest problem I can see, If it applies to this product, is that all silicone that I have dealt with in sheet form, has a tendency to tearing as soon as it gets a scratch or nick in it.

I am very interested in buying one of these, but I note the price has still not dropped since the product came out in 2011.  Has anybody found a cheaper source for these?

What a good idea. Shame the price has not dropped since this thread started.

I would also be interested in knowing if there is a cheaper source. Or indeed any further reviews if anyone has used one since this thread was last active.

I've got their bucket in black. use it all the time, boiling water from draining potatoes/rice/pasta etc and also for cold water storage and transportation. I love it. I worried that it would 'get worn out' where I was collapsing it and explanding it all the time but it is a perfect as the day I bought it :)

If they did the kettle in all black (obviously not the ss base lol) then I would have one of those as well!

Outwell's Collaps Kettle is similar and a little bit cheaper... Thought they looked quite sturdy and a good idea when I visited Go recently.

Yes, all of their collapsible stuff is lovely and is really good quality but why oh why the bright colours! Black would be lovely :)

The Outwell version does look sturdy.

Unsure the amount of space saved for me, makes it worth the cost though.

Heck! Just realised how old this thread is!

Any feedback on these kettles from those who purchased in 2011?!
