We use an Igloo koolmate, realy good, well made etc, ours comes with a 12v and mains adaptor, so we cool the box down at home,connect it up in the car and then use the blocks when we get to the campsite.
All the other advice is spot on...frozen food is good also a wet towel over the top helps in hot weather, we have loads of blocks, so we put a batch in the freezer at the campsite and change over every 2 days.
