Hi
Theres a basic camping list in the link below which although contains the obvious does list a few things you might not think of and misses out on some things you may already have but its a good start LINK
When the weather improves I would, if you havent already done so, test pitch the tent a few times so you get used to doing it so you wont look a right on campsite. There is a good video on youtube by "Cross Camping" pitching a Filey 6 although not specifically for the Bear the principal is the same and many of us prefer this method to Outwells as large tents can be pitched by one person Cross Camping video

Everything has been said before, but since nobody ever listens we have to keep going back and saying it all over again and again and again
I'm already panicking about this, because I don't think our garden is big enough because its on three levels. My mums garden is just a 45degree hill and my MILs is a small funny shape.
So, the only place I can think of practicing is the local playing fields. So instead of local campers laughing at me, I can have local dog walkers and footballers and kids laughing at me!
Oh, and me and the other half do NOT work well as a team in these situations. I get all bossy, he doesn't move fast enough, I scream and yell and eventually he gets sulky and walks off. We'll provide great entertainment on site though. And we have two small children who will want to 'help'. I will just want to tie them down in one place with guy ropes until we're finished.
Any suggestions on which would be the worse option?

Cheers fella, watched the video and I'll try that, more or less the same tent. I did plan to have a few tests, ideally I want to do it on my own in under 1 hour... Have seen a YouTube video of a fella putting up a bear 6 on his own in 10 minutes!

might be better to get the portaloo delivered directly to site though as it may be a struggle to get it in a car

Definitely recommend a fishing bed if you have room to carry as bit bulky, we were fed up with airbeds always deflating and last year invested in two JRC bedchairs. We also purchased the sleeping bag that straps onto the bed, result good comfy and toasty nights sleep.

My vote goes to the bedchair and sleeping bag option too..Best(level on any surface) nights sleep I have ever had since I started using one...As stated by others...a bit bulky in the packing stakes...But well worth it if you can fit them in...
Should add I don't have transport at the mo...So hire a van (Anything from a Berlingo to a Transit) when I go camping....So no real problem for me packing bedchairs...
One thing I would advise...Is take your time over whatever bit of kit you settle on...There is a tendency(By most of us)to rush into a spending spree when we are full of info/tips/advice furnished by the good folk on here when we ask questions on camping related matters...
Remember....This is going to be your(and your family's) Camping experience..Not mine nor anyone else's on here offering advice....
