Thankful now that I bought two of the poundstretcher ones at £7. We are snowed in and our heating has gone off...cant be fixed for 2 weeks! Heating kitchen and dining room with them. Warm as toast and once heated, drop down to one setting and its sooo cosy! I think the glow they give is so very homely and cant wait to try one in the tent...wont need so many lights!

went to Poundstretcher in Swindow, now called something else - cant remember what. no little halogen heater unfortunately - they did have the 3 bar oscillating one without remote for £15.  Too big for my van, and nowhere to store it - the bed is already full of bits and bobs, table etc., even put my folding chair up there during the day time.  Also would not want to leave it on at night.

They only wam things, rather than the air, don't they, so they feel really warm.  Also demonstrated once to me, that you can put a piece of paper into the bars, and it will not catch fire......so really pretty safe, for animals as well as children.

Will have to keep looking.........no Maplins around here.....tried Halfords, Focus, and B & Q

have seen them for sale - not too bad for price - but not in DIY type places - they want you to buy a new one.  They are on a webiste somewhere - think about £3 for two bulbs, but cant remember where (typical) found it when looking up under search for halogen heaters.  If you have a nice old-fashioned hardware store, that sells the fires at quite a high price, as they cant buy in bulk, they care more about the customers, and often keep the spare bulbs in stock - or really really really old-fashioned, will order them for you......but p l e a s e, do  make sure you go back to pick them up, or offer to pay for them first, as lots of people dont bother to pick up what they have ordered.....but if paid for, I will.

easier to add up the watts anyway...........1000watt...........

get befuddled - with 280 + 350 + 450+ 180........

Hope you did not mind me indicating it might not be 700watt...........looks exactly the same, maybe is actually the odd inch bigger........but does not look it.  Anyway in some ways, 1000watt better......you can always turn it down/off so it wont come on when you boil the kettle, if you dont use a camping kettle, and take your leccy kettle from home.

I bought a 3 setting one, with oscelation and trip switch from a local shop for £9.99, a local market stall was selling the same model for £18.99, a day later. The heater was a impulse buy, at the time. It pays to shop around.

Just checked my Halfords one and it says 700Watt on the heater as well. It doen't half heat up well tho', too hot to touch on max.
