We have an Oakland XL. Never had. problem putting it up. I suggest you dismantle completely and start again.

We leave the bottom section of each pole until the tent is standing, far easier than wrestling it all and the fabric doesn't twist on the poles.

Hi daveyjp, do you have awning? As this is what I'm having problems with the tent is a piece of cake to erect?

OK I'm back with another thought. Hope this has not already been suggested. What is it like, if you lay the awning on the floor with a pole threaded as required, then as there is no weight or stress on anything (except you) can you work the fabric so it all fits where it should do. If the answer is NO, then there is a manufacturing problem, and you should contact the supplier. If it's not too far away go back to them with it and ask them to show you where you are going wrong. Simples init.

Morning raf! Yes it is like this when laid on the floor, there is no give and it is very hard to get the adjustable ring and pins in. I did manage to get these in but it wasn't an easy job!

I dont know if im too late to reply, but i recently got this tent 2010 version but it was brand new and had a similar problem where as its near impossible to put the ring and pins in the poles as there does not seem enough material or the posts seem too long.

i posted the question on the cross videos on you tube and he pointed me to a video demo to solve problem.

errect tent as normal but when you go to insert the ring and pins break the end section of the pole (as if you were folding the pole up!) which gives you a few inchs extra to easily insert the ring and pin, then line up the post where you broke it and push the pole together and then it reconnects without ripping the tent!
