We've been extremely happy with our choice of average quality GO camp bed and average quality 5cm SIM.... although it seemed daft to ignore those cheap 5cm SIMS at Lidl last week... so we didn't!! :-), and we'll be doubling up to 10cm when we tootle off somewhere this weekend!!

I used to use a thermarest prolite and still do for weekends in the little tent but the rest of the time I now use an exped synmat 7, it's half way between an air bed and a sim. You inflate it with a built in pump but it is filled with synthetic fibres so it insulates far better than a std air bed.
For Cub camp or Beaver Scout sleepover's it's my camp bed will a roll mat and blankets, but when the other half is camping with me then it's our Coleman's Comfort double airbed, blankets, cotton sheet's and the quilt off our bed.
