Can't find the article now but about five years ago a manufacturer producing food grade water piping got their process wrong and several batches were supplied to caravan and motor home industry as well as camping stores selling replacement hosing. it was recalled but some got through maybe your van was one of them, Symptoms of this piping was TCP tasting water.
