Wind the jockey wheel until the wheels clear the ground.
Wind down the front steadies until they touch the ground to make the whole thing stable.
Those were the instructions that came with our microlight many years ago.

That's what I do to level from front to back, Peter, (although I would never jack up until the wheels leave the ground!) but leveling side to side is what I'm struggling with. I could do with something to lift a wheel so I can put a piece of wood underneath. I could always do that with the motormover, I think... I still need something for lifting the wheels to rotate them over the winter, though, as the battery is taken off, so I can't use the MM then...or just connect the battery and rotate the wheels by moving with the MM!
I purchased one of THESE from Lidl, if you are intending using the jack on a hard surface ie drive, then this is piece of cake, position it under the axle and up she goes, no crawling under the caravan, and the lift is effortless. I have bolted two kojack jacking brackets on either side of my 'van which I found on Ebay, which makes it even easier. Scissor jacks are a pain in the butt, and most bottle jacks are too tall. Good luck.
Thats the type of jack I mentioned earlier used carefully with wood packing as required. You can often find them even cheaper in Lidl or Aldi & they are German Tuv tested so should be ok.

I know, these are great. But very heavy to take with you and store in a diddy caravan!
We have the Kojak and find it excellent. We also have a motor mover fitted but on our van the mover is in front of the wheels and the fixing points for the kojak brackets are behind the wheels.
