Maybe we are taking too much we have a tent, poles, pegs, groundsheet for canopy, 2 carpets, footprint, canopy and poles, 2 storage cupboards, 3 sims, 3 campbeds, 2 bags of clothes, box of food, 4 sleeping bags, (1 spare just incase of accidents) towels, barbecue, carcoal (Husband cant stand the stuff you get abroad) cooker, cylinder, kitchen stand, 2 tables, electric hook up and toys for our son plus 3 bikes on the bike rack. The car was full up to the top and we are worried that it might not be doing the car's suspension any good therefore that is why we are thinking of a trailer.

Hi. We use an Anssems GT750 trailer which we love. It is up to weight, a quality build and has large wheels for a superior tow. As they are expensive, we don't have the Anssems top just greedy boards made of ply and a home made cover made out of a tarp. We were going to save up for the Anssems hinged lid to go on the trailer but we're very happy with our present arrangement so decided not to bother. We have two canvas tents to pack plus we don't travel light but this trailer suits us fine.

The advantages are - items don't have to be completely flush with the top of the trailer as the cover will go over any bulges, no extra weight of lid, more capacity than the hinged lid option also the trailer can be used for different tasks like runs to the dump.

Another consideration is the bike rack. When the trailer is on we can only carry two bikes as any more would impinge on the trailer when going around corners due to quite a short draw bar.

As already mentioned get the biggest trailer you can afford and store. The box size on our Anssems is 2m x 1m which is handy when its stored in our garage as we can walk around both sides of it without tripping up.

In the winter, we store outside with non-perishable items in the trailer topped with a ply board and a tarp to keep the weather off.
