I knew I needed a trailer but everything I saw looked flimsy.
When I saw one the notion of the enclosed box with bikes on Thule roof bars on top, just made so much sense. The budget went out the window but I could see what I was paying for in the quality of the product. I recommend them to everyone who asks and a few who don't.
I think it's Trailertek that sell the side openers. Perhaps this is a dealer mod rather than a factory fit option, the pics look to show them opening from the kerb side for the UK.
I bought mine new 5 years ago and it's is a side opener opening on UK kerbside, not that I'm ever likely to open it on a roadside! Given it's length I think this is a preferable option to end opening because it gives easier access.
Mine is going in to Leyland Leisure Sales to have a height extension fitted, as soon as the parts come in. Will let you know how that goes.
Gaining access can be awkward because it is so deep.but I can walk inside it now.
I had no problems when it was a single height as I could access on 3 sides.
Although it is safer to do when it is hitched.
A dealer in Sheffield (nearest to us) confirmed the side openers stopped a few years back. I guess the Trailer Tek ones must be modified by them, they certainly look new as they have the black plastic wheel arches rather than the old style metal ones. I must admit I have not contacted them as they are too far away from us to collect so it seems rude to be in touch with no intention of buying. Might have to go second hand to get a side opener......
I got mine from K trailers between Perth and Headinbra.
Run by a great lad who loves to talk, always a pleasure visiting him.
Bought the extension packs from him too.
I bought anssemms/trailer tektrailer a few months ago, it is side opening with a single gas strut which seems very strong. I love the trailer, really easy to tow. Trailer tek badge it as their own name.
We have a GT750 with extended sides and lid (and roof box on top too - have two dogs so they take up the boot in our 4x4) but has anyone found a storage box to fit on the single drawbar? Appreciate it is not the longest drawbar and you need space to lower the jockey wheel but there must be somebody with an idea! Plenty of boxes for "A" frame drawbars but struggling. May have to have something fabricated!

Hi Dubsta (or anyone else with a box on their Anssems)
How is the weight of the lid and box being lifted on the gas strut, does it stay open on its own, and what is the combined weight like to lift? Am considering this option alongside the option of a Brenderup with extension sides and abs lid.
I like the idea of the Anssems as having a separate roof box would give more flexibility to use just the box on the car if required, and is a separate clean area for bedding away from stuff in the trailer. The side opening lid also looks better for access....
Many thanks
Jim
We have the Halfords Exodus 470 litre on top of our GT750 - works brilliantly but we try not to exceed the 70KG and perhaps restrict to 50KG which seems to work OK with the gas struts. You are right, great place to store bedding

i know it's a while ago but how much does it cost for the extension to make it higher ? Also how sturdy does it feel
I have put 2 extension packs on and they cost about £250, but I can't be certain as it was a while ago.
The fitting was done by me at home with ease and very few tools required. My brother-in law helped.
Once bolted up it is not flimsy, it is very robust. Have no fears in that regard
