With no space for a trailer, nor desire to spend £££'s on a towbar, we went for a roofbox when we were still camping. Now we're just keeping it for moving the kids stuff around. Stores nicely in the shed. It's the Kamei Delphin 380 purchased from The Roofbox Co.
They do a sort of configurator, where you can sort by width etc.
No issues with leaking, security seems good, and I'd certainly recommend them as a make. There used to be a link on here to a discount, not sure if it still is.
Loading up at home is fine via a stepstool, but on site with the taller vehicles re-packing does need some thought. We took one of those plastic stools which folds flat, and used the box for bulky, but light stuff.
Mucker, if we'd the strength to fit it and subsequently store it mounted on the bars, we'd leave it like that permanently and cut the rubber strips to fit. Sort of permanent set up.
But we don't. So we just take the strips out and refit them after. The bars have to stay on the car.

My advice is worth no more than the price paid for it

Just to put peoples minds at rest, seeing as I was quick to stir panic when my brand new Kamei let water in...
After giving it a good soaking with the hose, and nothing getting in, I decided not to add any sealant, and was prepared to give it another go.
Just got back from 2 weeks in France. Lots of fast motorway driving, lots of rain, lots of wind... and a perfectly dry box throughout.
I've deduced that on that first trip, whilst the locks clicked into place of course, I might have distorted the front a little, cramming my large sleeping bags at the front, effectively "opening its jaw" a little. Pure guess work on my part, but have since concentrated on avoiding that same effect, with perfect results!
I'm quite happy to concede to user error for my first experience of this roof box and I'm quite happy to rate it 10 out of 10 now.
Result!
