I use stainless steel karabinas puchased from eBay and Aldi or Lidl.
I have not seen Aldi and Lidl listing them for ages.
The go-to eBay store is Handystraps that sells all sorts of SS goodies, and the prices for their karabinas are very reasonable.
The cheapo small aluminium karabinas I had used in the past were fine too, however, I prefer SS for its strength.
As for rigde lines, I only use 1 ridge line, and have never drapped the tarp over it. The tarp is always attached via karabinas.
I do use 2 sets of poles as the second set helps to lift the tarp up for easier access.
I thank JimCall for sharing his wisdoms on tarp rigging, without his advice, I would not know about ridge line and Prusik knot.
One word of advice: make sure the Prusik knot is properly fastened without the guy loops overlapping. Otherwise it can slide, as discovered myself. Nowadays, I would double check the knots before attaching the tarp to avoid sliding.
