I would prefer to deal with someone giving the CORRECT advice, and not being sold more than is safe for all. I do not think I would like to be on a pitch next to someone who was not observing the rule as it stands. 1 Metre is the correct length/ way to go.
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
There is no regulation maximum length, 1m recommended is to prevent the hose being damaged and a trip hazard. Most portable gas appliances state that they need to be further than 1m from anything flammable.
Any length hose should be checked for damage for use. If it's not damaged then it's safe!
Happily run 5m of hose that is checked regularly and will be replaced at the appropriate time. It's run from under the caravan alongside a windbreak before being connected to the Cadac. Therefore cannot be a trip hazard and accidental damage is minimised.
