These are the rock pegs I now use for all ground conditions. They have double hooked orange tops and threaded shanks which makes them easier to withdraw if they get stuck (just twist them). I generally place them on all the main guys and the main stress points of the flysheet (corners etc.). I then use ordinary wire pegs for guys that just form the shape of the tent or hold open a vent etc. At one time I just used the cheap wire pegs all round with no problems except I got fed up with them bending and having to straighten them out. I have also used the Outwell type plastic pegs but they tend to bend also when hitting a stone...so now it's just rock pegs.
