Hi John,

I've got the Thule Wing Bars, specifically the 118cm version (Thule 961) which comes with footpack 753 and fitting kit 3118. I think it is very similar to the Whispbar which I also considered. I'm sure if you ask roofbox.co.uk they will be able to tell you if there is any height difference, but I'm guessing it's not much if any.

There is one difference between the Thule and Whispbar which for us Honda CR-V owners may favour the Whispbar though... The Whispbar foot is mounted to the vehicle with just one of bolt holes, with the bar directly above it. The Thule uses both bolt holes and the bar is centered between the two. The advantage of the Whispbar therefore is that if you use the forward most bolt hole the bar is slightly more forward than it is with the Thule. It's not much, maybe 25mm or thereabouts, but that can make all the the difference between the box fouling the fin &/or tailgate or not.

Good luck with your choice, and please do post back once you have your set up and let us know if it fits.

Cheers,

John

You should take up reviews and information on roofboxes for a living , John !

Very helpful indeed, Thank You. As you say that 2.5cm could make all the difference.

I'll let you know how I'm progressing.

Roofbox have offered me the Pacific 200 by Thule which almost identical to the Touring 200 and I think may be the older model judging by the price. Thanks again.

John

Hey John (jskw66)

Have been reading your roofbox messages with interest, as I have a 2015 CRV being delivered this week, and i'll need to buy a roofbox for it

I just wondered how you got on with fitting your roofbox - and what parts / bars did you end up buying?

Really appreciate you letting me know - thanks for your help mate!

Steve
