We got back into caravanning a few years ago, our first couple of caravans were old and light and easy to manoeuvre, plus we're okay at reversing. Our next one had a motor mover fitted, we didn't need it but loved the fact that it allowed us to park the van hitch first if that was the direction of the best view-:) Next van was a twin axle, no mover, wished it did have as although twins are far easier to reverse, it still took about a 27 point manoeuvre to get into our allocated space in storage. A mover would have been handy when we were on a very tight pitch in France too. Just swapped the twin for a much smaller two berth, which already has a mover. Didn't really need it, but helpful for me to hitch up on my own if I ever had to, we thought. Then last week we unexpectedly had to bring the caravan home to store - thank God for the mover! We live on a bend, on the brow of a hill, and our drive slopes down towards the house. What fun that would have been reversing it on-:) Thanks to the mover, it got parked in a couple of minutes, inch perfect. Also hitch first for added security. Yes, it takes up 30kg of an already (some would say) miserly payload, but we travel light anyway. And I sometimes get control of the remote too!
