Wow amazing negativity (pun intended) from some folk over these type product, OK they are not for everyone, and current prices are high, but are sure to come down.

Personally I think they are fantastic pieces of kit.

I built a toolbox sized powerbank with solar input, it cost around £200 for the solar panel, leisure battery and all of the parts required for 12v system.

I used it a couple of times in the summer for a 1-2 weeks each and it was perfect for providing light in the 2 main rooms of an Oasis 8 and the kitchen extension.

I powered a TV for watching the rugby and charged umpteen tablets and phones, inflated the beds which had a built in 230v pump (this was the only thing that put a strain on the battery) and operated a 230v desk fan to keep us cool.

I made another smaller one for my sister, this time using a spare pelicase and 2 9AH batteries https://youtu.be/gtn9z1gv3mc

I have a Floureon Powerbank/Invertor I use for the summerhouse (40m from our house) to power lights, Hi-Fi, tools etc.... with a 60w solar panel.

I plan to bring it on my next camping trip. It’s not going to power any fridges, ovens or hairdryers, but should prove useful for charging up iPads, and phones.

The ability to plug in a 240v appliance, even for a very short time might also prove useful, but not enough to make me want to fork out for EHU.

Yep Kuppenbender, for £100 or so that is a decent piece of kit, for what I have in mind I need more capacity, which is why I am interested in the Bluetti and similar units, that can cope with say 600watt from the 220volt AC embedded inverter.

But there again the Bluetti is ten times the price.

Here’s another one to compare the bluetti to https://www.solarpowersupply.co.uk/product-groups/portable-power-stations/ecoflow-........

Yep Terry, there are some good reviews on the ecoflow Delta in your link.

The ecoflow is quite similar to the Bluetti, the ecoflow has slightly less storage capacity, but is lighter in weight than the Bluetti, also the ecoflow can handle higher ac output, so the two suit different customer needs, I would not say one is better than the other, that’s down to the individuals requirements.

Price wise there not much between the two, both need to drop significantly, and that may happen in time, I think £500 is about the sweet spot, maybe Aldi or Lidl will have a copycat version some time in the future.

So how many sites do you visit and not use EHU?

Well, quite a few campsites have non-electric supply pitches ... for instance, the much touted LeTedey in France has a row of marvellous pitches along the lake side ... none of which have EHU ... if you want EHU you have use pitches with no views to the lake ... just pine trees.

Just an update, Maxoak have now added the Bluetti EB240 to there range, quite a lump at 25kg, but this new version packs the same usable energy as four 100Ah Lead Acid Leisure batteries which would tip the scales at not far of 100kg.

Great piece of kit, even at £1,500 only a matter of time before units like this become more affordable, still double the price of a Honda EU10i but the Bluetti would be a lot nicer to take camping I would argue.
