Our old Beanstalk unit was terracotta for the windshield and cream for the base, happy memories of camping all those years ago.

Exactly that! Perfect!

Not sure about the glass top though. Might be ok if you lay it flat in the bottom of the roof box!

I think you're on to something there, Mucker! We should maybe contact Outwell et al with the proposal (after patenting, of course)?

Or, since your O/H is a bit nifty with a sewing machine, maybe lockdown is the perfect opportunity for you to start up a little cottage industry? The name 'Mucker Skirt' has a nice ring to it, don't you think? Then again, that might attract the wrong sort of clientele...

Decathlon one too grey?

My friend made an excellent kitchen stand out of an old folding workbench thing. Added an extra shelf, painted it, it was sturdy, folding, not twee, not boring.

Your suggestion is the nicest of the lot Deborah, thanks, just is a bit too wide (an added complication: can't accommodate a double-width unit!).

Also, I'm not sure about mesh doors as we camp a lot in France (usually!) where pitches can be very dry and dusty, so solid doors and rear mesh panel are preferable.

Don't want much, do I?!

The best kitchen we've had to date is the Outwell Padres. It's super-quick to put up, reasonably stable (adjustable feet), durable top (bamboo) with slightly rounded corners, and I liked the pull-out bowl holder and hooks. BUT, it was bulky to transport and such a boring black (they say it's 2-tone but still looks drab and boring black to me!). So, we got shut.

I thought / hoped there might be some interesting new offerings this year, but can only assume that manufacturers must have several thousand bolts of nasty black PVC-backed fabric to use up...

We spend a lot of time obsessing over our tent choices, I think we are allowed to want fixtures and fittings to match or complement.

I sue a single width cupboard to put my stove on (if I am kitted out to the max and not just using a small low table) and I have a mid-blue one, bought from either Lidl or Aldi a few years ago. They tend to change colours so look out for their camping weeks.

The Decathlon single width one might work of you make a nice 'Mucker Skirt' from a flat piece of nice canvas that suits your colour scheme and Velcro it to the underside of the top, and a Velcro tab each side at the bottom. Chic décor, and keep the dust out? (no frilly nonsense!)

The sides and top are blue...

This Obelink one is more sturdy and has the slots for a windshield
https://www.obelink.co.uk/bo-camp-cooking-island-waterproof.html

Still very grey - though it has a little blue trim - and would need the Mucker Skirt treatment to fulfil your décor aspirations.

Look at the lovely canvases you can buy https://www.myfabrics.co.uk/canvas.html

This one has nice duck-egg blue legs and frame!
Would need a Mucker Skirt for the cupboard door though to cover the mesh.

Nice colour frame but the design looks like they've cobbled together a bedside cabinet, a low table and a cat toy!

I really like to retro / Fred Karno look of that Decathlon cobbled together one, and the supports for the bin bag would solve a problem for me.

It looks less GoOutdoors Showroom than the standard offer. But I really can’t justify buying stuff I hardly ever use, as I don’t usually take a kitchen stand anyway.

Sorry for my non-working links in above posts.

Good luck in your quest!
