A bit off topic (to put it mildly !) - BB E695, we're off to a wedding this weekend in Monaghan - coming back via Belfast port.

Are there any decent camping shops worth detouring to have a look at ?

G

There is one in Ballyclare (Hagans) which is OK, but it is about 10 miles on the wrong side of Belfast. It has a good range of stuff, but it is all fairly standard. I would only usually visit it for 'emergency' buys. I usually buy all my stuff off the web or wait until I am in Dublin and go to the one in Blessington, which appears to have every single camping related item under the sun.

Where are you going in Monaghan?

Oh how times change so very quickly.

Because we tour around Europe several times each year, two years ago I bought a Clarion NAX9500E Sat Nat unit (cost £800) + 7in Wide Screen Clarin Monitor cost £470 + the disks for this unit cost £100 each Italy+France+Germany+Benelux+Alps = £500 so by the time fitting, remotes brackets etc are added the total was close on to £2000.

Having just changed the car to one with a factory fitted system I placed the above on Ebay....shock horror after three relists I got only £300 for the NAX9500E and was unable to sell the disks.

Technology is moving at an amazing speed so the moral here must be not to spend on something which will be out of date in a couple of years.

From what I've seen of them (and I'm no expert) the new Tom Tom's seem to be able to do almost everything a fixed system can do without a giro fitted.
