We used to have a ford ranger, was great for carrying a wet awning around, unfortunately we now have a ford edge so generally just keep an eye on the weather when we are getting ready to come home and take it down before the rain arrives

Well, after expecting a week of almost solid rain, according to the forecast, we had one afternoon and evening of heavy rain, a few light showers and plenty of sunshine, so no problem getting the awning down dry after all. However, we're much more confident now if we do need to take down and transport a wet awning in future - thank you all.

I've found the easiest option is a £5 tarpaulin and a couple of bungees. Open up the tarpaulin, pull the awning straight on it from the awning rail. Centre the awning on the tarpaulin. Fold and roll the tarpaulin to encase the awning and secure with bungees. I fling mine in the car boot. Dry off the awning asap when you're home.

Pair of wheelie bin bags for transportation.
Once home I've attached a couple of lengths of awning rail to the outside wall of the house and on the 1st dry day drag it out and attach it to let it dry out thourally.

This is quite an old post
When we have had to carry a wet awning I put a tarpaulin over the boot some towels that we are taking back and just lay it over that . This worked for us .

Unfortunately the boot/back of the car is the travelling space for our two biggish dogs, hence the need to transport a wet awning in the caravan or back seat of the car.
