It was a campaign/uprising of leisure boat uses who got Calor to rethink their abandonment of the smaller cylinders. Calor announced in January (2024) of their policy reversal, but stated a shortage of cylinders may affect supply for a while. Not sure that the camping fraternity was either large enough or vocal enough to influence them!
The Calor Lite cylinders was an entirely different situation. Way back many years ago, they had a lot fail on inspection during refill. They halted manufacture of new cylinders and relied on existing stock to satisfy the market demand, but inevitably this lead to diminishing numbers available over the years. Suspect that numbers available for refill dropped to uneconomic levels and they got culled along with the small cylinder policy change. They are unlikely to be coming back in their old form, but Calor did promise a replacement way back when the faults were first discovered, but it has never materialised and is not even mentioned any more!
If you need a lightweight cylinder, Flogas do a plastic 5Kg (and 10Kg) one that has become the go-to substitute for a Calor Lite. Slightly different dimensions and coupling, but suitable for most modern caravans/MHs.
