Hi Amanda, you're nearly there, the only thing I would suggest is that you don't rewire the 10m lead, buy one by all means if you think you'll need it. For the reverse connection lead buy a blue socket and a blue plug and 1 metre of the thick orange or blue cable and wire that up with only one end neutral and live reversed. It just seems a shame to use the 10m one for that purpose when it could be very handy if you are ever on a pitch which is a long way from the site mains outlet.

Phil.

Do you mean a male blue socket and a female blue socket? And what thick blue or orange cable? Where do I get that from? Just an ordinary electrical shop?

Good tip Nimrodphil. I'll copy that idea, if I may.
Amanda;just get a male and a female blue socket, from any any camping shop, elctrical wholesalers, B&Q, or Screwfix. The latter are on line and are cheap.
For what you need, why not cut a 0.5m lenght off your 20m, with the male socket still on, but reverse the polarity in it. Connect the female socket to the other end with the polarity as normal and Bingo, you have it. Now just put the new male socket onto the 19.5m length, but make sure the polarity is as normal.
Jim.

Hi Amanda, the female end is called a socket and the male end is called a plug. Most Caravan accessory shops sell them. Local to me there is a Trailer manufacturer that sells them. Halfords usually sell the plugs and sockets but they tend to be a bit more expensive than other places. Any decent electrical shop should sell the correct wire, if in doubt take an existing EHU Lead and show them, if they don't stock it they will know a man who does

Right. I have bought a blue plug and a blue socket and took them to an electrical shop for a cable. The man there looked at me as if I was slightly deranged, then told me that what I was going to do was really really dangerous and I shouldn't do it. And that it was illegal anyway. Anyone would have thought I was suggesting molesting a chicken not making a reverse polarity cable.....Hmmm. Anyway, he sold me a metre of the cable he said I would need but now I'm kinda stuck.

So.........does someone want to wire it all up for me??? Pleeeeeeeeeeease?? I'll pay for return postage <insert big cheesy grin begging emoticon here>

Go on, go on, go on, go on....................

Amanda

If you follow Phil's advice and cut a length from the hook up lead you just have to connect one wire at a time as it is in the existing plug and then do the same for the socket but reverse one live and neutral.(blue and brown)

You will have the originals to copy from one wire at at time
