Hi, Im new here,but...

After many years of camping using Campers & tents & boats,I have now resorted back to tents!  (More of a laugh!).

I have used gas in the past, but have now opted for the electric hook-up, & I will be taking the following with me on my next trip:

Toaster/sandwich maker/2 ring electric portable hob (argos only £19.99 & with 2 ring you can make anything!!) Portable T.V/Light.

We take our Beauclaire, it's brilliant for every type of cooking.

We also take an Hinari Air cooker. This is thermostatically controlled up to 230 degrees with a timer. It has a rack with long & short legs. Long if you want to brown things, short if you dont or if you're roasting a chicken or something. In this I cut a whole chicken in half, open it out & lay it on the rack. When I think it's 20 mins away I stick a pack of frozen roasters around it, do some veg & bingo, a nice roast. You can literally cok anything in it, treat it as a fan oven.

We also carry two of the small single gas burners, the ones with the hairspray size canister in, the canister lasts about 2 hours & so far ours has always run out half way through cooking. I guess the only time any gas supply runs out is when it's being used.

That's why we find the Hinari air grill so good lat123, we have the same problem as you with the aga & the beauclair, air grills & gas rings come into their own then. They're brilliant as replacements for the big old cast iron jobby when the suns too high.

If you are getting the electric, poundland do a great little clip on light fitting, takes ordinary lightbulbs, we use the low energy ones in ours, as they don't get so hot.

It's like a big plastic bulldog clip with a fitting like you get in a table lamp, small to pack and weighs hardly anything, and you can clip it to a table or whatever, or even hang it up on a bit of string if you have a lamp loop in your tent.

Poundstretcher also do a clip on light. I think it is a bit more expensive at £2.99 (not sure) but it does have a longer flex on it which is useful if you're trying to reach a suitable 'clip-on' point. We have both a Poundland and a Poundstretcher one and the poundstretcher one is far less hassle.

Would totally agree about using the low-energy bulbs - no worries then if the bulb happens to brush against the tent.
