I looked everywhere localy for a bucket with a lid , it became a bit of a joke , with mates asking if id found one yet . eventually found one in a back street £ shop , I was so chuffed when i found it .
p.s judereds , you have my sympathy , i was sick for 9 months day & night with both of mine . Even now certain smells make me recall how ill i felt then .The good thing is you wont put on so much weight , & well get back in shape quicker .
Hope all goes well with the birth & the sickness is soon a distant memory .
Thanks Teggy! This is my second one and I was exactly the same with the first - sick right up until the day he was born. Am taking my trusty bucket with me and my portaloo (god knows how I am going to get on with that) - off to Cornwall in a trailer tent on Sunday for a week - cant wait!
For years we've kept a bucket with either pine wood cat litter or Aubiose horse bedding in the horse trailer and if it's been used it gets emptied onto the muck heap when we clean out the trailer at home... not sure about it at a campsite though, but the bin bag in a 'bucket and chuck it', like the Elsan Bristol that came with our 'van, is highly recommended on this website, just knot the top and put it in the refuse - no worse than disposable nappies (my 'baby' is nearly 15 now so no, I'm not filling bins with them).
My toilet bucket was purchased from a garden centre complete with 5 liters of organic chicken manure.
once you have used the manure on your garden it is the perfect height for a toilet and comes with a tight fitting lid.
i always empty it down the chemical disposal or if there isn't one into the loo. I don't use any chemicals or litter as i have found that a few night time wee's don't smell at all by the time morning comes.
I have to say that I wish I'd known about the cat litter thing when I went away the other week. I ventured on to my BWL late on at night and it was sooooooo loud I was convinced I'd wake the kids up!!! Was a bit worried I'd been heard by the rest of the campsite aswell
