Do you need EHU? With three little ones personally I'd be going for the "no we can't have electricity when camping" approach to deflect the "I want to take....." arguments!!!

Invest in a three way fridge instead and have some family time without gamestations, TV's etc!

It's perfectly easy to camp without EHU.

the EHU is nothing to do with having 3 kids. It's mostly for my OH who needs a heater at night but we choose to have EHU so we can have a light and a heater for the evenings and to run an electric coolbox.

We used to camp without EHU when we first started out but prefer a few home comforts. We dont take a tv, radio or games consoles. We take books and a few games but find that the kids are happy to play outside with other children.

make sure you buy one that has sockets which you can move 90' because the sockets are so close together you cant plug 3 thing in them otherwise!

regards simon.

I can see both sides of the arguement Piglet, it really depends on the circumstances, at dent at the weekend the leccy tripped and there was none overnight so the guys that were relying on it froze and the folk that didnt were still cold but prepared. Yes a heater is handy if you have kids but good sleeping kit is a far better option

personally I was thinking about it but for me it would be a luxury item and for me camping is roughing it, it isnt meant to be a home from home, there will be times it is cold but it does teach you to push yourself that bit harder.

BTW it was minus 4 at Dent overnight

We have put our electric hook up for sale. It is in great condition, only used it for 2 seasons as we have now bought a folding camper. It only has 1 plug, but we put a 4 way extension lead on it, never had any safety issues and that was with a toddler about. Here is the link.  http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/classads/forsale/view.asp?ad=7-3-24-15029&subj=Sunncamp+Electric+Hookup   There are also some photos on my profile. Hope you are successful in finding one. We found it great in the tent as we were able to run electric cool box and heater. OH loved being able to take hairdryer!!!!

If you have any friends that are electricians get them to make you one up, it'll be cheaper, if not then go for a ready made one, don't try doing one yourself.

I've been lucky in that regard as I am a sparky, so just made one up out of the bits from our stores

Kev
