Just back from a 3000mile trip across Europe and I can confirm the TomTom One XL European mapping version was FANTASTIC ! ! !

My wife was a bit sceptical about sat nav before hand, but she was amazed at how good it was and how useful the POI's were.

Performed perfectly, and comes in very handy in finding where you parked your car in a large foreign city (saved the cars location when we parked up then took the TT with us. Took us straight back to the car on a walking route using short cuts that we would not have found.)

Buy a TomTom and you can't go wrong

Does anyone have , or know of, a Navman F10 . Costco have one coming on offer in October for about £94  ?

At present I have a Navman which is very poor.

Well took the plunge and went for the tom tom. Thought I was the bees knees with this new toy. I travelled to Southampton from the Isle of wight at start of holiday. set up sat nav just before leaving ferry.  It told me to turn left and then take first exit at roundabout. ended up being sent down road to container docks instead of heading towards M27. Not a good start. however things improved as holiday went on. (inside park Dorset.) It faultered once when returning to campsite one evening, otherwise not bad.

Thanks everyone for your recomendations & experiences.

Glad you got one

I still favor the Garmin over the Tom Tom, with Tom Tom, if you want traffic reports and such you have to hook it to your cell phone and you will use min's costing you more money whereas the Garmin isn't

Go for the tom tom one england and eire

I have one for work and it is on all day every day, and never let me down (Unlike my 2 previous navman's!)

Halfords were doing it on deal for about £130

You will not regret buying it!!!

But not very handy if your going To Scotland Or Wales even Northen Ireland eh ???

Mine though has Great Britian and Eire ..as well as Europen

Guess you have the slecttive mapping on yours

Had a Naveman before, had funny quirks like taking me off a motorway to rejoin it again, only 5 digit postcode search and was not touch screen.

Have a Tom Tom 510 now and have it loaded with POI's , which do come in handy sometimes..like looking for a post office or a Calor gas place. Warns me of accident black spots and its linked to my mobile as a hands free, also updates the route if there is any accidents or tail backs ahead

So long as you use a bit of sense with them ( ignore it if the road looks like its a single track) its a great of kit .

As for the windscreen mount , well I have mine all hard wired into the car for the power feed, and have an alternative mount using a mobile phone holder for the tom tom, so no nasty marks on the windscreen

Just bought the Road Angel 7000 with the memory maps of England and Wales.  Now use the Road Angel to get me to my destination.   I then change the SD card to Memory Map OS Digital maps and use it as a GPS whilst hill walking in Wales, Cumbria or anywhere else.   I can plot routes on my computer and down load to my Road Angel and it can track my progress or navigate my route all the way round.   Brilliant!!

Have just come across this Price Comparison website. Used it to find the best deal on the TomTom we've just bought
