The thought of the contents of someones loos empited in the site rubbish bins does not sound good. When we used our Luggable loo we put a bit of water with some of the toilet chemicals used in caravan loos and emptied it in the chemical disposal unit just like caravanners do. Much more hygenic and more cost effective.

I am a biking camper so take no loos of any kind, it was just a suggestion for those that do.

Alan, even if people do shake out the contents of a nappy into the loo it will still be dirty and soaked in pee. (no I don't have a baby)

The crystals dessicate solid waste anyway so no, not a huge risk of illness unless you plan on eating from the bin.

I spent many happy times at my grans farm which had no running water or flushing sanitation in my youth. We thrived as did my family before me.

I think people can be a little bit too concerbed about things, We camp in fields, sometimes ones used as farm land which animals have used as their loos. If you want sterile then I would suggest a hotel tbh

i thought you'd say something like that LOL.

i have thought, briefly,  about using something absorbant in my luggable loo and i do carry one of my grandson's nappies for emrgencies!

however the question at the start of this thread was about saving money and clearly the money saving method is to pour it away.

ps. why did this come to the top of the forum when we are about to have our teas? My husband was not impressed as i called out, tea is nearly ready,  i am just on the camping forum discussing our luggable loo and cat litter, darling

I had pretty much the same thought while typing Sonja!

I agree the cheapest idea is to pour it away but some people want the litter or bags so I just thought I would help out.

Having the motorbike doesn't exactly give me many options to be honest. I do have a collapsable bucket but I use that to wash with.

We actually rarely use campsites, it's mostly festival type events or wild camping in which case I am sorry but I go for a wee in the bushes and rinse with water. If it's good enough for the cows  Before I get strung up I hasten to add that if wwe are on a campsite with loos I go to the loo 2am and raining or not.

No.2s? well we pop out during the day to get shopping etc and that's enough. We do have a little folding spade for emergencies (never had to use it yet tho.)

The idea of using something absorbant in the bucket is in case of spills. If you have kids (or in my case dogs) the chances are at some point the bucket will be kicked (usually just after being used lol)!!

Mostly I trek across the campsite, but just occasionally (cold and wet) I choose to use my loo. That is my choice - I dont impose my waste on anyone else, so I dont see the problem.

 I do understand that and the luggable loo is tall (which is why it is great for sitting on if you are creaky) and so it is in danger of being toppled.

At eweleaze farm it was even worse because of the slope. Luckily the farm provides loads of logs so i was able to build a wooden wall round it.

An annexe with a built in loo. How posh is that! No wonder our friends refer to it as the west wing :)
