No option is really safer than any other as far as kids are concerned. No matter what you are cooking on a young child is quite capable of knocking it over and a pan of boiling pasta will scald just as badly off an electric hob.
As has already been said, unless you are in a cotton canvas frame tent or similar which has an area in which it is safe to cook, it is extremely unwise to cook inside a tent. Quite apart from anything else the problems with condensation are likely to put many people off. This means that you are likely to be cooking outside and electrical appliances intended for indoor domestic use are not likely to be safe to use outside. Even a light dew will lead to the real risk of electric shock or at the very least trip your hookup leaving you with no means of cooking at all.
Don't even get me started on this little lot. obviously there's the same risk of burns with anything that gets hot, but, as far as child safety is concerned, electric is far less risky than gas or petrol, it won't cause a fire, explosion or poisoning if left on or switched on by accident for a start.
& it takes a bit more than a light dew to present a shock hazard. Besides, the level of circuit protection on campsites is so high that even if you use a home made EHU without it's own protection you're still safe. (Don't anyone do that by the way, it's always worth buying the correct EHU setup, & some sites won't let you plug in without it).
