I still claim that what we need is a gas/petrol/paraffin powered heater that sits in its own metal enclosure, outside of the tent with some form of safe heat exchanger piping safe heat into the tent all night.
I'm going to have a go at manufacturing one this winter, I've just got to get some funds together at the moment for a paraffin heater & some copper tubing. I've got plenty of ideas & reckon there could be a market for a safe, non-EHU, tent heater.
Hopefully a thread will appear, letting you know how I get on, in a couple of months....

I wondered if anyone has tried using an electric blanket, the type that is made to be kept on all night.  I think this could be the soloution to feeling cold overnight.

We use an overnight electric blanket. We have it on very low and it stops any dampness in the bed, also we don't wake up every time we move and hit a cold spot in the bed! I put a cheap duvet under the airbed and another on top, then the electric blanket then the flanelette sheet.

During the evenings we have an electric heater but this only goes on after I have put on my beanie hat and wrapped up in a fleece blanket. I often sit reading with my feet on a hot water bottle.

We have a ZIG so draughts are kept to a minimum.

In addition to fan heaters (I now have 2, plus a gas one that runs on butane canister), I also use an electric under-blanket on top of my blow up air bed. Nice and cosy!

If the weather is cold but dry with light wind, then I am off to Dorset for a 4-night trip over Christmas.

However, if it is wet and windy, then I shall stay at home.

I may be mad, however, I am not stupid!
