Unfortunatly you do have to pay what price it is on the day. Its bad service as you think you are going to get a good price then they tell you that its dearer than what you think. I know it nothing to do with camping but its like that with online food shopping. If you do your shop online and your tomato ketchup (for instance!) says 89p, the day it is delivered it might be 99p, you will have to pay 99p because that is the instore price when your shopping is delivered!

Just to give you a laugh- bought a kettle from GO last week and it didn't work. Took it back today and told the lady that i wanted an exchange because it didn't work. She actually asked me what was wrong with it!
Got a new one though

I bought an Outwell windsreen for our Carolina M on Saturday from GO. It's £49.99 in GO but they price matched Yeomans (£44.99) and gave another 10% off no problem

"Bland loyalty" is just not my bag. Savvy shopping's a must in this climate.

My final post on this as the original poster:

Go Outdoors HAVE honoured the original price and have in fact charged me less than the advertised sale price for my trouble. I thought I should emphasise this as my intention was not to 'have a go' and I wish to be fair to their follow up response to my complaint, which has been an example of excellent customer services.

Thanks.

Suppose you could think of it going the other way, if the price had been reduced after you reserved it, you would expect to pay the lower price. It is unfair when you have gone out your way but from now on I will be looking for price guarantees when I reserve on line.

thanks for the heads up!

As a manager for a large well known retailer, we are not obliged to honour the price If it has increased as like everyone says, you pay the price that it is on the day, however, it is always my policy to sell the item at the price advertised as it is great customer service and I want that customer to come back and shop with me again and again. Besides, if it was a lower price the previous day, it makes no real impact on the business's profitability which day it was sold on?

thats it in a nutshell. companies do make mistakes but its how they sort things out that shows how good they are as a company.

I bought a vango 3 man tent in Go last year at beginning of season. i found it online £30 cheaper and copied the weblink onto a memeory stick. used the instore computer to show the manager the cheaper price which he matched and took 10% off on top.

B&Q also do this with their online reserve and collect, it states you may have to pay a different price when you actually collect, seems like many reserve and collect services are like this.

Went to the new Go Outdoors at Exeter yesterday. Interested in the Marista 700, which was advertised as RRP £550 reduced to £449 with the discount card, but Outdoor World are selling it for £399 with free postage.

Ah, but if you paid your fiver & got them to pricematch you'd get the extra 10% discount so you could save money.  I had good service instore after ordering a tv online from them and taking delivery of a pre-owned, one year old model in a tatty box. The manager exchanged it immediately.  I  challenged them (online again) on Sunday night but have not received a reply. Our store has a good display of tents but not much stock of other equipment, half the store is filled with clothing & shoes so when you're looking for camping gear its actually quite disappointing.

I wouldn`t mind betting if you sent them a link to this thread they`d be more helpful ,this thread will cost them more than the difference between the prices in lost customers.

It's not hard for stores to find their competitors prices these days.

I'd rather Go check their prices and make sure they're cheaper rather than the 'price promise' tbh. They obviously aren't making a loss by beating others' prices.
