I bought one for £12 in Lidl !!
Not mega noisy at all, I have it in caravan bedroom now as has auto thermostat on it, can switch 1Kw or 2Kw
I did purchase an oil radiator 1200W but found it totally useless really, would wake up cold n chilly, but not with the fan, it's like buying a van really, always a comprise, and the fan gives instant circulated heat.
This is very similar to the one we use, if not the same. It's not silent, but I wouldn't call it noisy. We only use it first thing in the morning and last thing at night, so it isn't a problem for us. We rarely use it on more than the 1kw setting and it's plenty warm enough, although I must admit we don't tend to caravan in winter.
Hi Colin D, thanks for the info, we are not winter caravanners either, we find in spring/autumn the bathroom could be a little warmer in the mornings so wanted a small heater just for there.

No fan heater will be silent despite some of them being advertised as such...I don't know how they get away with it.
However, the Argos Value fan heater linked to above is the one I have and it is not too noisy, although noise is subjective of course.
Another issue with fan heaters is that many coming into the country from China are using the absolute minimum size of wiring allowed which by EU standards is 0.75mm. That size wiring can get quite hot when used for long periods on maximum heat. I took this up with Trading Standards a little while back and they confirmed it was legal providing the wiring was no more than a certain length (I think a metre, not sure now) and the plug was tested to a certain temperature to withstand getting hot.
The Argos heaters I have (and I have bought a couple from there) actually use 1.00mm wiring (it's stamped into the wire). Although this can get slightly warm under long term use on highest setting it is nowhere near as hot as heaters using 0.75mm wiring.
I don't know about anyone else but I would prefer my electrical wiring to stay cool so I always recommend the Argos heater. Wise to check the wiring before purchase though in case they have started importing cheaper ones. It also has a switch on the bottom which turns it off if it's knocked over although it doesn't say so in the specs.

We wouldn't leave it on all night, no,but if you're reading in the evening, it could be noisy.
Which one have you got TraceyD?
If that's the case, why bother buying another one, if your present keeps you warm, while awake.

Be careful what you buy though because I have one that looks like an Argos value one but I bought it off ebay some time ago for a very similar price to those sold by Argos. It does not have the tilt switch on the bottom and the wiring is the 0.75mm and gets quite hot during use.
It was this that prompted my complaint to Trading Standards when I realised that the wiring was different. I also discovered some differently designed fan heaters imported from China (most of them seem to be) use the same 0.75mm wiring which under British Standards was recommended as only suitable for up to 6 amps. A 2000 watt fan heater of course draws 8.69 amps so how the EU standards can deem them safe I don't know. I believe the 1.00mm wiring is recommended for appliances up to 11 amps.
Good point regarding look a likes seems to be many Bob, however the CPC version is as above the same Argos value specs 1.00mm and keeps pretty cool on the wire front and cost me just under £6 delivered.
So far fairly quiet, warm and cheap!
In fact you helped me decide on which to buy Bob on a previous slightly newer thread from those hazion days of 2014....see you were my personal advisor then.

We have a De Longhi HVE134 which we think is quiet, in fact we're on our second one after 12 years. Reduced to £13.99 at House of Fraser.
I suppose it depends on your hearing level and noise tolerance. We have left it on low all night and even though I'm a light sleeper wasn't disturbed.
