replies to various -

saw a few home made ones in Cornwall this summer and thought the same myself.

Also saw there and in Wales a brick wall design one and a hedge one - was very nice - would like a white picket fence one for round my tent - any one seen one about?

We have both styles and I much prefer the old wooden stake ones, in Devon the other year using the new style, the wind got up overnght and my friends one came out and put a hole through her tent!

I'm clearly in the minority -but I like the new ones. If you put them up right i.e. taut and pegged with same rules as a tent, the wind won't pull them up - we've been in horrendous winds and they were fine. The guys are on the the other side than the one you use and granted it means a few more guys around the place its hardly the end of the world. The big plus is they go in any ground and pack a million times smaller than traditional ones - which is a godsend for those with boot packing challenges.

Me too, I used a cheap Argos one in the high winds at Easter and it worked great. If people are having to repair theirs every day then they aren't putting it up very well in the first place, they aren't difficult to put up at all.

Old wooden ones take up far too much packing space for me, they are huge.

Our Blue Diamond Wind Break looks like a wall of ivy kinder on the eye than the blue or striped design. A couple of fellow campers liked it and asked where they could get one.
