We went to Belladrum Festival last year with our two boys aged 9 and 11. Our friends kindly offered to travel up the day before and pitch our tent for us - wonderful - or so we thought. When we arrived, we couldn't get a signal on our mobile to find out where they were. Imagine trying to find your blue tent in amongst 12,000 other blue tents. NIGHTMARE! Hours of pulling and pushing our gear around the family/quiet camping fields began, as did the arguments. Phrases like "why did you have to pack so much beer anyway?!" were exchanged. Not the best start to our weekend!!!!
It sounds like you'll definitely need at least one trolley. But do bear in mind that most of the campers who have contributed to this thread have car camping in mind. It'd be worth having a look at the lightweight/backpacking threads too, to get some space saving ideas.
Cripes!! What a headache. I hope you were all able to enjoy once you found your tent.
I've got a couple of macpac 70 litre packs that we were going to fill with as much bulky stuff as poss from my former NZ mountaineering days - really miss the great outdoors.
We're going to do a dry run in garden if the tent fits (we have a patio that will get in the way no doubt. And will decide then what we think we really need .
The back wall of our house has an obscene amount of spiders (more than normal) and our girls are petrified of them, the tent will be crawling with them if we dared to sleep overnight in our garden so we might see if we can find a local camp ground to test everything in.
Thanks for your advice Susan, all these experiences help build our trip to being hopefully successful.
The festival we're heading to is in Cheshire -never been up there before but have been told its a pretty destination.
We're heading to the just so festival - it's kind of an artsy, magical (think alice in wonderland) styled forest event, two types of tickets - day tickets and camping festival tickets - think the day tickets sold out a while back but there was still availability for the camp site when I last looked.
