What I need to do now is try and get hold of another bottle for spare and for changeovers otherwise when it runs out I will get caught out and I dont want to fill it before its empty.

There is a b****y good reason they stopped making them run on HP gas.  It is a potential family BBQ with you as the main course.  Gas hoses should be replaced every 5 years or so, that is why the hoses are date stamped, they degrade &  burst.  Running off cylinder pressure, you'd have a massive un controllable gas leak followed by a fireball if there were any sources of ignition - like a stove nearby.  In the event of a cylinder getting knocked over, you also get liquid LPG through into the burner, turning it into a flame thrower.  The only users of HP gas should be commercial who have the facilities to ensure safe use of the bottles, ie that they are clamped to a wall or in a secure cabinet.  The rules changed in 1982, surely this must say something?  Time for a new stove!

i had a really old  high  pressure  stove and it  didnt seem to work  any better  than  the new low  pressure one i  have  now ,  I  did  replace the   hose on the old  one  prior to   getting a  new  one.  If you do  replace  the hose you need the more robust  high  pressure  hose  which is  twin wall  braided,  mine was  bright  orange.

Personally   I  wouldnt  bother   with the old high  pressure ones  for the reasons  stated above  ,   Once  i had a  4,5  calor  cylinder   that the valve tap  seized open on  on and  the  gas  really does  come out   exeptionally  fast ,  I  had to  just  take cylinder spewing out gas  and leave it in the open  till it  emptied  .  if the hose  had   split while connected to  an old  high  presssure  cooker it would of  been a similar  situation.  the volume of gas  coming out is  far greater  whereas with  low pressure regulator it wouldnt happen so  dramatically and  less gas  in a shorter time .

I know your postings were many moons ago but you may still be able to help.

First of all, have you sold or handed on the adaptor?

If not, could I be cheeky and ask if I can have it?  I am desperately searching for one of these.  I used to have one but I left it my mothers and it got thrown out hen she had the house renovated after my dad died last year.

If you have passed it on, have you still got any details of it?

I would appreciate anything, photo's specifications, even a supplier if you know of one.
