It is almost as big as my tent. Make sure you have a lot of room to carry it. It does compress down well, but as a bag with the sleeping bag in, its very big.
I noticed this about the astral bag as well - so we went for a Coleman Hudson double which packs up quite neatly in a compression sack, but it is a slightly lighter bag as well... AFAIA-
Coleman 3.7kg 235x150cm
Vango 4.7kg 230x170cm
The Astral Double is nice, but it just takes up so much space to transport. It is a bag rather than a compression sack. My Astral Double I would say is about the size of a small suitcase when it is packed away. I have some Astral 250s as well and their bags are huge as well. The actual sleeping bag is brilliant, but if I didn't have a trailer, there would be no way I could take it to the campsite.
I suppose you could always get a smaller compression sack and stuff it into that. The sleeping bag itself doesn't need that much space so it would fit in something a lot smaller.
CORRECTION: Just looked, it is a medium sized suitcase, not a small one.
I chased my remianing sleeping bag today and was told now that they won't be getting them in until w/c 29/5......I told them if I could get hold of one elsewhere then I would do & cancel the order with them & I have managed to get one from www.allweathers.co uk which will be with me for Thursday!!
I will await delivery before cancelling as they appear to be a popular bag!
Thatnks for the heads up on availability Liddenham and Nitnat. They didnt call yesterday, despite promising me they woudl by 2.30, but I came home this evening to a message left this morning from one of the people there. He has passed on his mobile number so that I can contact him direct, so will call tomorrow.
Will be furious if the delivery is pushed back again, if you are in a 'queue' as such then they should at least let you know where you stand in that queue.
I'm not sure, but think it may be illegal for them to state they have items in stock if they havent?
Agree it is peak camping shopping season, and that its hard to get the stock situation right in those circs... Am mostly angry that its taken me calling them every time to get info and it seems like they are talking out of their behinds a lot. WIll be expecting a discount on my order when the final installment finally arrives!!!
Hope everyone gets their orders soon, I am gagging to finally get out in my tent!!!!!
PS: Agree the bag is huge. (we have one of our two bags already) Actually think its a bonus as we can stick a pillow and fleece blanket in each one....wusses? us?!!
LIddenham. DID speak to Paul at OM, who was still not able to gove me a delivery date for the bags at all, but did agree to letting me have BOTH of them free of charge. so thats a £70 refund coming my way and I have the guys mobile number if its not in my account be next week!
Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, thats all I can say!
Well my sleeping bag arrived this morning that I ordered from Allweathers yesterday - how's that for service(standard delivery too).....pronpltly phoned Outdoor megastore to cancel my remaining order, now I await my refund!!
I too am having a lot of problems with Outdoor Megastore. Stan and Stanetta are both very witty but if they can't deliver on Customer Service then why bother?
They happily took my money on 21st May. Two items together woth £65 have not been in stock since then. Delivery expected by 10th June - still waiting... The communication is appalling - all they say is that they will post them when they arrive. How can one plan a holiday on that basis?
This company just seem happy to take your money and aftercare is something they just don't seem bothered about. Advice - steer clear of Stan and Stanetta - shop elsewhere.
I've tried to order from them and emailed them twice to ask if the items were in stock, no response so today I called within the stated opening times and got a message saying they were closed and telling me the opening times!!
I'm going to spend my £500 in a store who value my custom and don't feel that just because there prices are competitive that they can ignore the cumstomer.
Big thumbs down for OUTDOOR MEGA(craap)STORE
