I don`t care if the people in the tent next to me have a HUGE plasma TV with cinema surround system as long as they don`t bother me. What they do or have in their tent is entirely up to them and none of my business as long as it doesn`t disturb anyone else. I don`t tell anyone what they should do when away, or what they should take/use and I certainly don`t expect them to tell me. Each to their own as long as you`re happy and your neighbours have no cause to complain ! Take your wii if you want to, it`s your holiday and enjoy it as YOU want to.

That's fair enough, but she did ask the opinions of us posters.

I just can't imagine this in a tent, unless it's a huge one and empty of kit. I find it hard enough to fit all of us plus the kit into the living space of even the TT and still have room to do anything else like walk around. The thought of actually doing some sort of leaping around....argh! I like the DVD player on when it's a miserable night outside because then the kids stay still and DON'T fidget round the tent and step on things.

As for any potentially annoying noise....can't imagine it would be any worse than any other sort of electronic entertainment gizmo in the next tent. As long as it goes of at curfew time I don't care.

I think gillychick phrased her original question wrongly - it opened her up to lots of 'sad' criticisms which are bound to feel hurtful and cause her to be defensive.

Hubby designs questionnaires as part of his job and is always telling me that the answers you get are always coloured by the way you phrase the question.

Seems to me that if you weed out the 'yes its sad' comments and look at those who actually took the time to consider the question then the consensus seems to be 'do what you want as long as it doesn't bother other campers'

So do what you want, be mindful of the neighbours and be aware that some of them are gonna think yer sad - but so what??

A good trick if you aren't sure is to go out your tent and walk back as if you were the neighbour. Stand outside their tent - what can you hear/see - would it annoy you if you were them?

When we used our DVD in France 2 years ago I kept telling the kids to turn it down because they kept turning it up as they were struggling to hear it against the wind and the rain. Went to the loo and was quite pleased to realise that outside the tent you couldn't hear anything as it was all being masked by the torrential rain (every cloud as they say LOL!)

each to their own is what i say!

its not always possible to get outside and enjoy the outdoors, flying kites playing football rounders etc especially when your camping at the end of oct! the weather just doesnt allow it!

so other means of entertainment are needed, we go the first week in nov, we'll be taking the wii, ds, laptop, board games, books with us, kids need entertaining, sad maybe but everyone has their own way of doing things, its part of what makes life interesting

as long as the noise is stopped at a reasonable time what does it matter
