Good news, at least for me anyway!  I am now in possession of an adaptor fitting of the metal variety!

In September I went to a car boot sale.  My wife and I never usually go to this boot sale, we favour a bigger one in the opposite direction, but it was evidently the last of the current season so we gave it a go.

Curiously, because the event was organised on a local football pitch, I wasn't allowed to take my I dog with me around the stalls, presumably because he might have cocked his leg or loosened his bowels on the playing area!  So while I was waiting for the missus perusing around, got talking to one of the car park marshalls.  It transpired that he worked for Calor in Ellsmere Port.

I mentioned my predicament to him and he said that he when he went back to work he would have a look through what they call the £5.00 box.  This is evidently a pile of old fittings that invariably come in attached to old bottles for refilling.  After we had exchanged phone numbers and parted, I thought nothing of it except that I'd spread the request just a little further so it could do any harm.  I certainly didn't hold much hope out, that is until the other day when out of the blue he rang me.

He came around on his way home today and handed me the fitting.  It is the aluminium type that fits both Calor and Camping Gaz.  I offered him something but he wouldn't take it.  So I am made up!

What he did add was that he probably has several of these, so he will put them by and let me know, so if anybody wants one let me know and I’ll keep my eye out!

Here’s a couple of photos  of what I’ve finally managed to get hold of:

OK - I am in touch with the guy and he has promised me he will keep a watch for me.

The chap (Colin) was so friendly and helpful.  He could have taken my details at the outset and discarded them but he didn't.  It just goes to show that the world isn't all bad and there are still some people who are prepared to go out of their way without asking for anything in return or when offered totally refuse to accept.

I'll post on here if I hear owt so make sure you don't shut down your email notifications for this thread.

Hello BJS,

I am currently in need of the adaptors mentioned in your posting of the 8/09/2009 at 4.04 pm,with appropriate photographs.

I appreciate that it is awhile since, but wonder whether you are still in touch with your contact and whether it may be possible to acquire these adaptors at a suitable cost. If not both, the Tilley Camping Gaz adapter would be a start.

Your help would be appreciated

I'll have to check through my old phone numbers.  If I find his number, which I know for sure is mobile, and I'll send him a text and take it from there.

Don't build your hopes up though - it has been a while!

I'll let you know when I get a reply via this thread and then we can exchange details somehow.

Hi, I too run a Titan off a 907 biottle, but would like your approach.  If it's still an option do let me know.  Many thanks.
