I was thinking do you think it would be a good idea to vacuum pack some pre made food before camping And have anyone ever tried it ..
For pretty much the same effect and to reduce size of packets, put food/whatever in a polythene/freezer bag and (holding bag by open end) push bag down in bowl/sink/bucket full of water - this will push most of the air out of the bag and force the bag tight round the food; tie the neck of the bag and dry the outside. We always do this at home when putting stuff in the freezer - also stops ice crystals (from air water content) forming on the food when in the freezer.

becca i know what you mean as i ve just seen them on shopping channels at over £100 ok mines not a nice shiney chrome jobby but who cares does the same thing and saves a fortune with the kids, all those half eaten crisps loaves of bread and all the open plaggy bags for the stuff in the freezer that always ends up at the bottom (put it together and i could have a stew - me thinks better not)
....tubs of bubbles, yikes plays havoc with canvas and tents - great if you have a van and no awning but the detergent in it (I think its that) makes it not waterproof.. better stick with the glow sticks and tell my kids the bubbles were sold out
..and I remembered a spanner for the gas too, new hot water bottle & furry cover - OH says it looks like cousin it...got the kids a small furry one with animal cover - 3 for £10 inc del off ebay
