Just bought an Olympus MUJ 700 for £169 impressed with it so far. It is a 7 mgpixel and 3xzoom, very small and light

you can always save the files to disk (DVD/CD to save disk space)

ALWAYS copy your pix to removeable media, as soon as you transfer them. Take it from me it is VERY annoying when your hard drive packs up and you cant retrieve your photos

Are they easy for a complete and utter technophobe to use and do you need a home computer (only have use of my work one at the mo, will probably ask for PC World vouchers when I retire next year

yes very easy indeed,you do not need a computer you can buy a printer and plug straight in from the camera.you can buy cards also one inch square that can save up to 1800 photos or more.pc world will explain it all.
