Hello I am a newbi and have been reading this thread with great interest.

Now things have calmed down I would like to ask can anybody recommend a really good not to expensive generator.

It all depends on your definition of not too expensive. You can pick a generator up for about £60-100 but forget running anything off them without blowing it up eventually. If you can go a bit more to say about £250 you can get one of the new Kipor machines which are rip off honda EU's. By all accounts they are reasonable machines and pretty reliable, there output is very good and you can run all sensitive electronics off them.
