Worst buys - Gelert bag-type water carrier. Stank of new plastic, tainted the water we put in it with some terrible acrid stuff. Threw it away.

Also a folding (off brand) cooker stand. A bit like a clothes airer. Still quite big when folded up, but the worst thing is that the wind gets to our old feeble camping cooker from the bottom as well as the sides, Stuff never cooks.

Fortunately I have an ace backpacker's camp stove (Primus) which we get out to cook stuff when the 'big cooker' fails.

Can anyone recommend a good cooking windbreak?

Sorry - but I'm sure dog owners will concur.... I have something which is EVEN less functional (and possibly more dangerous) than a pyramid toaster....... a screw in dog stake. 

Absolutely completely and utterly useless for tying out any decently sized dog on - like any corkscrew they do even more soil damage on the way out than they do on the way in - so you end up with a pitch that looks like the aftermath of Hiroshima!

Your dog meanwhile is running will-nilly around the campsite dragging a sharp,  heavy and pointed metal stake behind them - and laying waste to all-comers who try to be helpful!
