Hello

After years of camping with the kids. hubby and I are going to be able to go by ourselves this year.  We are going to take the motorbike (an old Triumph Bonneville chop, for anyone who might be interested) and just follow our noses.  We have bought a tent that we can strap onto the bike, now we need a couple of sleeping bags and mats that we carry in our pockets!  Not quite - but you get the gist!

I wonder if anyone has any suggestions for something decent but reasonably priced.  We saw a couple of Karrimor Traveller ones in Milletts, but they were £55 each and I am sure we could get something a bit cheaper than that.

I believe Thermarest are a really good make if space on the back of the bike.

you could either go for those thin backpacker type mats or the self inflating ones. I bought 3 new outwell ones from a camping retailer on ebay for the bargain price of £9.99 each plus p&p

Even going for comfort and getting a thicker mat you would get them for much less than £55

these can be folded width ways and then rolled up length ways to make them really small.the price includes free delivery.they are good quality too.you wont get better for the price either.imho.i would not buy anything cheaper.as for bags,its hard to say when you have not mentioned the seasons you will be camping.

No, I didn't did I.  Well as we will be on the bike, we won't be going unless the weather is reasonably warm, so a 2 season would probably do.  I have just looked at the Vango Voyager 100's for £28 each.  They seem to be what we are looking for.  And to be honest, a couple of Gelert mats at £5 each will do us for the first trip out. 

Thanks for the link tho - they look great if we decide to take this "hobby" up on a regular basis.
